  1. An amphibian is a cold blooded animal,
  2. the most primitive of terrestrial 
  3. VERTEBRATE. Unlike the REPTILE, the 
  4. amphibians which include the FROG, the TOAD,
  5. SALAMANDER and newts and the limbless 
  6. caecillians have moist skins without scales
  7. or with small, hidden scales. 
  8. Most amphibians deposit their eggs in water
  9. or moist, protected places. The young 
  10. undergo METOMORPHOSIS from aquatic, water
  11. breathing, limbless TADPOLES to terrestrial
  12. or partly terrestrial, air breathing, four
  13. legged adults.
